Meet the team

Operations Manager: Kate Jenner

I have worked for Paydens Nursing Homes for over two and a half years now, initially as the registered manager for Betsy Clara, and now also as Operations Manager for the group. I enjoy working for the small, family owned, group, as family is at the centre of all that we do. We work hard to maintain contact with our residents' families, and also to promote a sense of family within the home. Getting to know each resident as an individual, finding that little 'spark' within them, is what makes our work so rewarding. We endeavour to ensure that each resident is able to engage with staff and others, in whatever way is meaningful for them, through provision of individualised and person centred care.

I have been a nurse for over 30 years now, gaining experience in a variety of settings, the past 10 years have been in care homes. I enjoy the long term care settings, as it gives us time to get to know our residents and their families, and being able to make a difference, however small, means a job well done.

Dementia is a key topic in health and social care at present. We will continue to explore new ways of providing improved care to all who use our services, and welcome feedback and new ideas along the way.

Trainee Manager: Sam Cornick

I am currently the Trainee Home Manager at Betsy Clara House with support from the Operations Manager Kate. I have been a qualified nurse for over 6 years. The majority of my career has been spent in the community within the district nursing sector so my expertise lie in wound care, pressure area care and even palliative care. I have also had experience in the acute sector at both Maidstone and Medway Hospital. I began working at Betsy Clara House in January 2018 looking for a new challenge in the Private sector. I started as the Deputy Manager and due to a change in the management at Betsy Clara House, I have been given the opportunity to step up and learn the role of Home Manager. I hope to continue to develop as a manager and maintain a family orientated environment within the home.

Administrator: Wendy Myers

After caring for a loved one through their terminal illness and my youngest leaving for University I decided to change my career.

In April 2016 I joined Betsy Clara House as the Home Administrator bringing various skills with me, that being AAT accounting and payroll, IOSH Directing safely and NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety along with experiences of holding a Parent Governors position, Management positions and Directing a company setting up ISO9001 and ISO14001. Each role may have been different but key were the children as a governor, customers for the businesses, here at Betsy it is our RESIDENTS.

My role has changed within the last two years, taking on the head housekeeper role along with the administration. Not only do I welcome all our visitors and families I get more time with our residents whilst ensuring standards are not just met but improved upon.

No matter what the day brings we are privileged to work in our residents' home and it is an honour when I spend quality time with them including when they come into the office for a natter.

This is a happy home and we are one big family. "The Betsy Family".

Activities Lead: Kevin Shaw

I have many years of experience working in dementia care with a company in the South West of England before more recently moving to Kent. I joined Betsy Clara House in July 2015 as a Senior Carer and after 18 months I took on the role of Activities Co-ordinator - this was an exciting opportunity to progress in my chosen career in a role that could provide me with a new sense of engagement in an area I really enjoyed.

In March 2018 I was appointed to the role of Lead Activities Co-ordinator for the Paydens Nursing Homes group. I see my role to bring as much fun into our homes as possible, helping our residents to enjoy their lives to the full and be actively engaged, something that is made possible with the fantastic support I receive from all of the staff in the homes.
