A Special Visit from Gracie Brings Smiles to Residents at Betsy Clara House

June 22, 2026

Residents at Betsy Clara House recently enjoyed a wonderful visit from Heidi and her lovely dog, Gracie, who spent time meeting residents and spreading plenty of smiles throughout the home.

Heidi volunteered to bring Gracie along for some pet therapy after seeing first-hand the impact dementia had on her own grandparents. Wanting to give something back and bring comfort and companionship to others, she offered to spend time with residents and introduce them to her friendly four-legged companion.

The visit was a huge success, with residents enjoying the opportunity to stroke, cuddle and chat about Gracie. Animal visits can provide many benefits, including encouraging conversation, stimulating memories and promoting feelings of wellbeing and connection.

The feedback from residents was overwhelmingly positive, and Gracie quickly became a firm favourite among everyone she met. We are delighted that Heidi and Gracie will be returning for future visits, and we know residents are already looking forward to welcoming them back.

A big thank you to Heidi and Gracie for taking the time to visit us and helping to create such a special afternoon for our residents.
